Our DBS Checking Services
Standard DBS Check
A Standard DBS check reveals both spent and unspent convictions, cautions, reprimands, and final warnings held on the Police National Computer. It is typically used for roles where there is no direct contact with vulnerable groups but a basic level of background screening is still appropriate.
Enhanced DBS Check
An Enhanced DBS check includes everything that a Standard check shows, plus any additional information held by local police that is considered relevant to the specific role being applied for. This check is suitable for roles involving close or unsupervised contact with children or vulnerable adults.
Enchanced + Barred List
An Enhanced DBS check with Barred Lists includes all the information from an Enhanced check and confirms whether the individual is listed on either the children’s or adults’ barred lists. This check is essential for roles that involve regulated activity and legally cannot be performed by someone on these lists.
Route 2 DBS Check
A Route 2 DBS check is an alternative identity verification route used when an applicant cannot produce the documents required for a Route 1 check. It involves external validation and additional safeguards to confirm the applicant’s identity before a Standard or Enhanced DBS check can proceed.
Volunteers
Not charged by DBS, but our admin fee still applies. To qualify for a FOC volunteer check, the applicant must not:
- gain financially from the role
- receive any payment (except travel or out-of-pocket expenses)
- be on a work placement
- be training or studying
- be a paid foster carer or part of a foster household
DBS Adult First Request
A DBS Adult First check is a fast-track service for employers in care settings. It allows a person to begin working with vulnerable adults under supervision while their Enhanced DBS check is being completed. Results are usually returned within 24 hours, helping reduce recruitment delays.
